Every spring, Dollywood quietly becomes something different. The rides are still there, the coasters still run, but from mid-April through early June the park transforms into something that's harder to categorize — part botanical garden, part food festival, part art installation, all set against the backdrop of the Great Smoky Mountains coming back to life after winter.
That's the Flower & Food Festival, and if you've only ever visited Dollywood in summer or fall, you're missing one of the most genuinely pleasant ways to experience the park.
What Is Dollywood's Flower & Food Festival?
The Flower & Food Festival is Dollywood's signature spring event, running annually from mid-April through early June. The premise is simple: the park fills with over a million blooms, the culinary team creates an entirely separate festival menu of seasonal dishes available only during this window, and the entertainment lineup gets refreshed with shows you won't find during any other part of the year.
What makes it worth its own trip — rather than just a nice bonus if you happen to visit in spring — is the scale of what Dollywood does with it. This isn't a few flower beds and a seasonal food cart. The floral installations take over the entire park, and some of them are genuinely extraordinary.
2026 Dates & Hours
The 2026 Dollywood Flower & Food Festival runs from April 18 through June 7, 2026. Standard park hours run approximately 10 AM to 8 PM, with extended hours on busier weekends. The last entry is generally one hour before closing.
A note on timing if you're reading this close to the end of the festival: If June 7 is approaching or has already passed, bookmark this page — the festival returns every spring, and everything covered here gives you a solid foundation for planning a 2027 visit. The format, the Mosaicultures, and the tasting pass structure remain consistent year to year.
The Mosaicultures: The Main Event Within the Event
The word "mosaiculture" sounds technical, but the experience is anything but. These are large-scale sculptures built entirely from living plants — the kind of thing you walk up to and spend a few minutes just trying to process how it was made.
Dollywood's signature lineup of beloved Mosaiculture creations returns for 2026, including the topsy-turvy butterfly umbrella, woodland animal friends, and the touching depiction of Dolly's mother crafting the iconic Coat of Many Colors. Other returning favorites include a mallard duck, a peacock, a family of playful bears, and two pink fluttering butterflies that find their home in The Dolly Parton Experience area of the park.
These sculptures are the most-photographed elements of the festival for good reason. The craftsmanship is remarkable, and they're positioned throughout the park so you encounter them gradually rather than all at once.
Umbrella Sky
Showstreet greets guests with a dazzling "Umbrella Sky" — hundreds of colorful umbrellas suspended overhead, dappling the walkway in a kaleidoscope of color. It's one of those installations that photographs well but hits differently in person. Plan to walk through it slowly.
The Food: What's Actually on the Menu
The food component of this festival is taken seriously. Dollywood's culinary team crafts a menu of seasonal dishes available only during the festival window, with highlights including a pesto caprese sandwich, sunflower lemonade, a hearty beef and sausage bread bowl, a blueberry lemon sweet roll, a blueberry feta salad, and a spring berry sundae.
The Spotlight Bakery runs its own festival menu featuring specialty cookies, cupcakes, and brownies alongside festival-specific items like a beehive-shaped sugar cookie, butterfly sugar cookies, a blueberry milkshake topped with fresh blueberries and graham cracker crumbs, and churros served with vanilla ice cream, chocolate and caramel sauces.
Alcoholic beverages are available in designated areas for guests 21 and older with valid ID. Select locations also offer vegetarian and gluten-sensitive options — check the Dollywood app for specific menu details before your visit.
The Tasting Pass: Is It Worth It?
The Flower & Food Festival Tasting Pass is priced at $43.99 plus tax, or $40.99 for Gold and Diamond Season Passholders, and allows guests to choose five different festival food items across participating locations throughout the park.
Whether it's worth it depends on how you eat at theme parks. If you're the type to walk and graze — trying a little of several different things rather than sitting down for one full meal — the tasting pass pays for itself quickly and removes the friction of paying per item. If you prefer one sit-down meal and a snack, skip it and order à la carte.
The pass can be purchased online in advance or at culinary locations inside the park.
Entertainment: What's New in 2026
New for 2026, the high-energy Moto Motion: Freestyle Showdown and the wildly creative Artrageous join a lineup filled with inspiration and year-round Dollywood favorites. The entertainment calendar shifts specifically for the festival, so even if you've been to Dollywood multiple times, the show lineup will look different during this window.
Check the Dollywood app for current show times once you're planning your day — schedules vary by date and some outdoor entertainment adjusts for weather.
The Guided Tour Option
For guests who want a more structured experience, Dollywood offers a guided tour of the festival that highlights the larger-than-life Mosaicultures, festive culinary offerings, and exclusive insider information. It's an add-on worth considering if this is your first Flower & Food visit and you want to understand the context behind what you're looking at — particularly the Mosaicultures, which have more story behind them than most guests realize.
Practical Tips for Getting the Most Out of It
Go on a weekday if you can. For lighter crowds and the best photos, aim for weekday mornings shortly after the park opens — midday and weekends are noticeably busier, especially once school schedules loosen up and the weather warms.
Arrive early. The Mosaicultures and Umbrella Sky photograph best in morning light, and early arrival means shorter lines at the festival food locations before the lunch crowd builds.
Download the Dollywood app before you go. Show times, food menus, wait times, and park maps are all in the app, and it's genuinely useful rather than just a glorified advertisement.
Wear comfortable shoes. The festival is spread throughout the entire park. You'll cover more ground than you expect moving between floral installations, food locations, and show venues.
Re-entry is allowed. Re-entry to the park is permitted with a hand stamp or valid ticket, so if you're staying nearby you can leave for a few hours during the mid-afternoon rush and return for the evening.
On pets: Only service animals are permitted inside the park.
Getting There
Dollywood is located at 2700 Dollywood Parks Blvd, Pigeon Forge, TN 37863, just off Veterans Boulevard. From Gatlinburg, plan for about 20–25 minutes. From Sevierville, roughly 15 minutes. Parking is available on site with a fee — arrive before 10:30 AM on weekends to avoid the parking queue.

Making It a Full Smoky Mountains Trip
The Flower & Food Festival is a great anchor for a longer spring getaway — but Dollywood is only one part of what this area offers in May and early June. The weather is ideal for hiking in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the crowds in Gatlinburg and downtown Sevierville are lighter than they'll be in peak summer, and the whole region has a relaxed, unhurried feel that disappears once school lets out.
If you're coming from out of town and want a comfortable home base close to the park, our cabin portfolio at Smokies Stays puts you just minutes from Dollywood's front gate. Browse what we have available at smokiestays.com/cabins — our properties open for bookings starting July 1, which lines up well for anyone already thinking ahead to the Harvest Festival or fall foliage season.
